As we approach the New Moon, this is a good time to do a Waning Moon Spread to look at habits or fears that we need to release.
I’ve seen several Waning Moon spreads that take different approaches to look inward and self-examine, identify things (fears, behaviors) that are holding us back, and what we need to release.
This particular spread comes from The Moon Calendar App, which I have found to be a nice resource for keeping up with where the moon currently is, relative to its phase and as well as other astrological indications, and what we can focus on in our own workings throughout the month.
In this spread, there are six cards:
1. (top) Where am I now? Self-examine to see where we are in our personal development, our goals and aspirations, our attitude and mental health.
2. (middle, left) Things from the past I am clinging to. Are there beliefs or fears, baggage from our past that we are clinging to?
3. (middle, right) Expectations for the future I am clinging to. What expectations for the future are we holding on to?
4. (bottom, left) Habits or behaviors holding us back. What habits or behaviors do we have that are holding us back from where we want to be, or what we want to accomplish?
5. (bottom, center) Relationship boundaries to set. While my initial thought that this would be a boundary to protect ourselves from others, after my draw, I realized that it could also be a boundary that we may need to put in place to protect others from our own issues.
6. (bottom, right) What needs to be released. After looking at what is holding us back, what can we release with the waning moon? Could be habits, behaviors, fears, emotional baggage, expectations.
